Module Description: This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the key principles and practices of organisational behaviour and give an insight into the key dynamics of individual and group behaviour and their impact on the organisation.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Describe the individual processes and behaviour which pertain to organisational behaviour.
LO2 Identify and discuss the key issues in relation to group processes and the impact of group dynamics on organisation behaviour.
LO3 Compare and contrast the various motivational theories implemented in organisations.
LO4 Describe the historical and current styles of leadership behaviour.

Perception, perception errors; attribution and attitudes.
Motivation in organisations
Perspectives on motivation; Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory; expectancy theory; goal-setting theory; using reward systems to motivate performance.
Leadership, Power & Politics
Leadership theories; leadership traits; leadership behaviours.
Groups / Team work
Work groups and teams; group behaviour; group formation and development; group cohesiveness; empowerment; creating self-managed teams; teamwork for productivity and quality.
