Module Description: This module examines worldwide tourism destinations, providing a comprehensive knowledge of the major characteristics of the regional geography of destinations: identifying and locating countries, main cities, physical features, climatic conditions, religious, tourist attractions and their significance for tourism.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Locate and identify the countries, main cities and physical features of the world continents with particular emphasis on Europe, North America, South America and Australia.
LO2 Examine the different elements of geography and their relationship with tourism.
LO3 Identify key tourism attractions from an international and global dimension.
LO4 Describe the major climatic elements that affect tourism and identify the world climatic zones.
LO5 Examine the ethnic culture and religions of major tourism destinations.

Continents of the World
Knowledge of world continents. Identify countries including main cities, oceans, seas, rivers and mountains with special emphasis on Europe, North America, South America and Australia.
Elements of Geography and tourism
Time, location. Geographical resources. Push and pull factors.
Tourist attractions.
Location, description and categories of the main world tourist attractions. Natural wonders of the world.
Climatic elements and tourism
The influence of temperature, sunshine, wind, precipitation and air quality on tourism. Classifying the different climates and world climatic zones.
Religious/Cultural aspects of Tourism
Sociocultural, ethnic, identification of worldwide religious practice and implications for tourism destinations.
