Module Description: This module introduces the learner to the techniques used for visual effects in video.
The objective of the module is to allow the students to output their final video works proficiently and up to professional exhibition standards.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Realise a video project from conception to completion and positioning it in the contemporary landscape.
LO2 Shoot, capture and edit, short original video projects, organizing the material and editing it into a coherent sequence.
LO3 Master the tools and techniques available in standard digital video editing programs
LO4 Use suitable compositing tools appropriately.
LO5 Output completed video project for dvd and online streaming to a professional standard.

The on-going examination of the basic concept through the variety of editing choices available.
Practical workflow techniques
How to gather, capture, assemble and store clips and images for easy retrieval and construction.
Enhancement Techniques
Colour correction filters: colour, brightness, contrast, and saturation
Superimposition and Motion Effects
Identification and use of suitable software options to achieve advanced visual effects.
Advanced Audio
Creation of a distinct soundtrack for a video work.
Exhibition Standards
Identification and execution of good practice in terms of the screening and/or installation of video work.
