Module Description: An organisation that manages diversity effectively will have a competitive advantage over organisations that do not. This module introduces students to different diverse workgroups that need to be managed effectively. The theoretical perspective of workforce diversity are explored on the bases of age, sex, religion, gender, race, sexual orientation and disability. The complexities of the business case for inclusion are examined through case study work.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO5 Analyse Human Resource strategies to ensure an inclusive work enviornment

Diversity Management
Uncovering the complexities of workplace diversity, paradigms for dealing with diversity, the business case for diversity and challenges against diversity benefits.
Gender, race and age management
Strategies for dealing with women in the workplace, earning gaps, foreign nationals in the workplace and strategies for retaining the older worker.
Religion and Sexual Orientation
Accomodating employees with different religious affiliations. Strategies for inclusion and acceptance of employees with differing sexual orientations.
Disabilities
Strategies for increasing the participation of people with disabilities in the workplace, atypical work forms.
Human Resource Strategies
Human Resources strategies analysed from the perspective of a diverse workforce.
