Module Description: This module is designed to improve personal and professional potential among students, including the development of skills required for effective online and offline workplace communication.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Personal Effectiveness
Exploring the themes of professionalism, responsibilities, respect, confidentiality, questioning styles, active listening, well-being, time management, conflict management, resilience and reflective skills; Building effective relationships through the application of a range of skills and strategies.
Interpersonal Communication
Exploring concepts of verbal and nonverbal expression including personal style, relationship dynamics, self-esteem. Adapting communication style for different people, situations and cultures; Developing skills to operate in a global environment, including cross-cultural and remote working; The ability to have difficult conversations and deal with conflict effectively.
Professional Presentation
Recognising the importance of networking in the context of professional development; Developing persuasive presentations; Interview skills; Interpersonal skills; Pitching, Online and offline networking; Competency-based interview skills; Negotiation skills.
Workplace Document Production
Detailed sessions on preparation of a digital CV, cover letters, professional emails. Create and produce online and offline business cards/compliment slips and audio files.
Online Workplace Environment
Developing oral communication of complex ideas and arguments using a range of media; Enhancing social media spaces for professional and business use through content writing and image editing; Developing suitable content for an online business such as social media, blog content and video content for the online business environment. Using suitable techniques to build an online community, with a focus on branding and professional etiquette.
