Module Description: The Internationalisation placement exposes students to the specifically international elements of a business in a variety of settings allowing them to engage appropriately with internal and external stakeholders while experiencing multi-cultural exchanges. In undertaking this module students will further develop their knowledge of the global business environment.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Formulate a considered strategy that identifies and enables further internationalisation opportunities for the host organisation.
LO2 Apply appropriate primary and secondary research skills with synthesis of garnered knowledge in the host company's environmental context.
LO3 Perform sectoral and competitive analysis for the host company in a manner that reflects the varied facets of successful internationalisation activities.
LO4 Critically appraise their own professional development while enacting measures to affect progress with respect to their own career goals.
LO5 Articulate reflected learning objectives that address identified skills and knowledge gaps with respect to varied aspects of internationalisation.

Indicative Content
Multi-cultural communication
The student will experience the challenges of multi-cultural communication within the host organisation with a view to determining their own strengths and weaknesses.
Operations Management
The student will develop a thorough understanding of how its organisation achieves fulfilment of its operational objectives while also understanding the strategic operational value of the organisation's core competencies.
Business Development
Through engagement with various processes and stakeholders within the organisation students will experience exposure of the direct and indirect antecedents of growth within an organisation.
Initiative & Motivation
Personal and professional engagement with career and context will yield the student the opportunity to demonstrate their own effectiveness.
Strategy
The student will explore the importance of strategy as a means to business success with particular focus on the relationships, behaviours and contexts of solid strategic direction.
Professional Development
The student will learn job searching skills, CV writing, Linked-in profiles, and interview skills to develop their own personal professional brand.

Assessment Description
Interview and Presentation: The placement coordinator will visit the partner organisation (virtually if based outside Ireland) to interview the student and evaluate their performance. The evaluation will be aided by the input from the learner's mentor/supervisor within the organisation. The student is also asked to prepare a critical reflection presentation on what the student has learned on placement.

Assessment Description
Students must develop a report for the company on any aspect of their current operations. The report will demonstrate the research undertaken relating to the area of focus, including an in-depth sectoral analysis. The report will show aspects of self-directed learning, reflection on decisions made, recommendations offered, and a critical awareness of the realities and complexities of the global environment from the perspective of their work experience.

Assessment Description
The student will develop an overall report on their placement experience. It should detail their decision making in relation to internationalisation issues, highlight examples of independent thinking, and the application of learning, as well as demonstrating reflection and self evaluation on their placement experience, and on their academic and professional development.

Assessment Description
Prepare and submit a professional CV and Linked-in profile for their professional branding (submitted by week 5 in Semester 1).
