Module Description: This module encompasses creative digital technology with the emphasis on graphic design, image manipulation and layout skills. It provides understanding of system and software capabilities and the instruction and exploration of digital software as used in the design industry. This module is designed to develop the student’s ability to express concepts through a variety of digital media (photographically based imagery/virtual 3D renders/scanned hand renders/CAD plans/digital illustrations/vector graphics).
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Use colour models and resolution for web and print reproduction.
LO2 Apply the fundamentals of design theory of Photoshop on a variety of media.
LO3 Integrate creative digital design applications.
LO4 Create design concepts with a combination of media to a professional standard in both printed and screen based format.

Digital Tools and Image Edition Software
Using digital software tools effectively (Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop, Graphic Design and Image Editing Software)
Assemblage
Creating and compositing a variety of digital assets into one final concept.
Style and Substance
Exercises aimed at developing abilities to identify, organise and design visual information allowing effective communication before addressing final solutions.
Photographic Manipulation
Exercises in modifying and enhancing images (photographically based imagery/virtual 3D renders/scanned hand renders/CAD plans/digital illustrations/vector graphics), use of grids, depth, positive and negative space, typography and colour.
