This module advances the student's knowledge of Irish culture, history and geography. It widens the student's repertoire of English vocabulary and improves his/her ability to converse in English.

Cultural Studies
Brief outline of Ireland's changing culture over the past 30 years. Identify Irish speaking districts. Brief biography of a famous Irish person.

Listening Skills
Audio materials, classroom interaction, films.

Speaking Skills
C.A.L.L interactive programmes, class role-play, asking and responding to questions, asking for, and giving, directions.

Writing Skills
Writing sentences in English, using the past, present, future, and conditional tenses. English dictation.

Reading Skills
Reading short texts such as magazine and newspaper articles and advertisements.

Grammar
Areas of grammar covered for all four skills include: past, present, future and conditional tenses, countable/uncountable nouns, adverbs, possessive pronouns/adjectives.
