Module Description: To introduce students to the basic elements of teaching, learning and assessment of Home Economics in theory and in practice.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Begin to discuss and appraise curricula and some pedagogical approaches in the teaching of Home Economics at post-primary level.
LO2 Discuss and perform some practical Home Economics work in a safe and efficient manner.
LO3 Outline some key elements of effective planning of teaching, learning and assessment of Home Economics concepts and lessons.
LO4 Explain and demonstrate some effective beginning teaching strategies to teach key concepts of the Home Economics curriculum.
LO5 Participate successfully in microteaching sessions to teach Home Economics concepts.
LO6 Provide, receive and respond to feedback on the teaching of Home Economics in microteaching sessions.
LO7 Summarise their learning from microteaching sessions and its implications for improving future classroom teaching practice.
