Module Description: This module provides students with a sound understanding of key theoretical issues in the field of sport psychology and ways in which sport psychology can be used to enhance performance.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Introduction to Sport Psychology
Introduction to the field of sport psychology, its history and current developments.
Characteristics of the Individual
How different characteristics (personality, motivation, attitudes, aggression) affect behaviour in sport
Sport Environments
Understanding sporting environments. The effect of competition on a sports person's behaviour.
Team Dynamics
What constitutes a group. Group life cycle, what makes groups succeed/fail.
Exercise Adherence
Change theory. Common reasons for drop-out, motivational techniques, client care
