Module Description: This module will provide an insight into the key managerial operations of both airports and airline companies and an understanding of economic issues within the air transport industry.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Airline Management
Economic decision making in the air transport industry. Determinants and characteristics of demand and supply for the airline industry. Oligopoly market structure. Factors affecting costs and cost structures. Management of costs. Airline pricing, fare structures and revenue management.
Airport Operations
Overview of the airport industry. Airport services and facilities, airport development and ownership. Airport service quality. Airport demand management. Slot allocation.
Airport Management
Airport aeronautical and non aeronautical revenue. Airport costs. Airport economics and performance. Airport benchmarking.
Future of the Industry
Predicted growth in different areas of the industry. Changes in the industry. Threats to the airline industry. Environmental constraints.
