Module Description: This module centres mainly on history pf Spain in the Twentieth and Twenty First Century. This module also centres on the B1+ level of Spanish according to European framework of reference for languages: review of past tenses, present and past subjunctive and direct pronouns in different topics related to society, the individual and the economy.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Critically examine historical events in the Twentieth and Twenty First Century in Spain.
LO2 Listen and critically analyse intermediate conversations which include review of past tenses, present and past subjunctive and direct pronouns in different topics related to society, the individual and the economy.
LO3 Speak and/or present in different topics related to society, the individual and the economy.
LO4 Write extended paragraphs, film synopsis and personal opinions in Spanish which include topics related to society, the individual and the economy.
LO5 Read and critically study authentic texts in Spanish regarding topics related to society, the individual and the economy.

Twentieth and Twenty First century history in Spain
Listening Skills
Group and paired dramatic role-playing; audio materials; film materials on different topics of the individual, society and the economy.
Speaking Skills
Discussions and presentations on different topics of the individual, society and the economy.
Writing Skills
Writing film synopses, essays and personal opinions on different topics of the individual, society and the economy.
Reading Skills
Reading moderately complex authentic texts included on the topics of history and culture in Spain and some Latin American countries, tourism, customer service and film synopses
Grammar
Area of grammar covered: revision on past tenses, present and past subjunctive and direct pronouns.
