Module Description: This module explores the the operational challenges of distribution, logistics and purchasing at an operational level. Students will explore the development and operation of procurement processes and will gain exposure to the varied challenges of logistics management in manufacturing and service oriented environments.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Critically evaluate the challenges of supply chain management including the key challenges of sustainability and supply risk.
LO3 Analyse the organisational requirements for effective procurement management in businesses that are trading internationally.
LO4 Integrate inventory management plans and demand management into sustainable and lean supply chain design.
LO5 Assess the technological and data-driven changes that impact on the business areas of purchasing, logistics and distribution.
LO6 Critically interpret, analyse and evaluate key aspects of the learning process, from the student's own personal perspective.

Assessment Description
Students are given a company scenario. Based on this, they analyse the strategic implications of corporate strategy for procurement, they develop an appropriate supply response (logistics plan) by taking into account the nature of the relationship between purchasing and other functions in an organisation. They apply the methods and techniques involved in planning and implementing the chosen procurement strategy and develop appropriate metrics and critical success factors for implementation and management of this new logistics plan.
