Module Description: |
This module aims to ensure that learners understand the sources of finance available to organisations operating internationally, performance management processes, and the use of available data. This module also aims to ensure that learners can prepare and interpret financial statements and forecasts, can prepare and review investment appraisals, and can advise on financial decision making including assessments of risk with a focus on organisations operating globally.

Indicative Content |
Role of Finance Manager
This section will evaluate the changing role of finance in modern international organizations. It will examine the role of the Finance Manager and the Finance team and interactions between teams for multinational organisations.

Financial Statements
This section will examine the preparation and analysis of Financial Statements. Performing detailed ratio and working capital analysis. Ratio Analysis - Solvency ratios, Profitability ratios, Investment ratios, Gearing ratios, Trend analysis, Limitations of ratios. Working Capital Analysis – Working capital management, working capital definition, Cash Management, Stocks, and Managing Debtors. Types, cost and sources of finance will also be examined.

Project Appraisal including Risk Assessment
This section will explore Investment Appraisal Techniques including the use of these techniques in evaluation of opportunities. Ability to compare and prioritise investment opportunities using techniques such as Payback, Accounting Rate of Return, Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return.

Data Analysis
This section will address the incorporation of data assessment into business decision making. Utilising data manipulation techniques to collect, present and interpret data. Understanding the process of utilising available data to forecast future outcomes using Microsoft Excel. Analysing data concepts, data collection, sales trends, and data visualisation techniques.

Risk Assessment and Performance Management
This section will analyse the various financial and ethical risks that can affect an international business. Assessing and evaluating financial risks and incorporating risk into business decision making. Evaluating financial risk elements such as foreign currency risk, forward contracts, hedging, and interest rate options. The Balanced Scorecard will be examined to consider management and monitoring of divisional performance, measurement of return on investments made, and incorporation of non-financial measures into overall assessment.
