Analyse patient case studies, in terms of nutritional assessment and requirements, feeding method recommendations and implications of disease. |

Nutritional assessment
Importance of clinical nutritional assessment, nutrition screening tools, biochemical markers, clinical evaluation and dietary assessment.

Calculating nutritional requirements
Energy, macronutrient and fluid requirements.
|
Feeding methods
Oral nutritional supplementation, enteral and parenteral nutrition; indications for use, selecting an appropriate feeding method, complications, types of products available.
|
Specific disease states
Nutritional implications and nutritional treatment of disease states to include cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, eating disorders, metabolic disorders, renal disease, cancer, osteoporosis and diabetes.
