Module Description: In this module emphasis is placed on the use of the body in performance, drawing in particular on the work of important 20th/21st theatre practitioners such as Jacques Lecoq and Jacques Copeau.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Lecoq's focus on the dynamics of movement, involving the body as the primary generator of performance; Lecoq's Neutral Mask; Clowning; Complicity
The work of Jacques Copeau
Copeau's physical theatre training; theatre ensemble; mask work; chorus; acrobatics; improvisation; imaginative play
Movement Ensemble
Exercises which develop initiative and freedom in performance; Group sensitivity and awareness
The Actor's Body
Physical exercises which encourage the body to be both more responsive and flexible in performance
