Module Description: This module explores the application of strategic management theories and techniques in a wide range of international business settings. It aims to expand the student's perspective in the area of strategic organisational management and international business growth.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Critically evaluate the concepts of internationalisation, globalisation, and appraise why and how its proceeding at a rapid rate.
LO2 Analyse international business for the purpose of formulating and implementing a global strategy in line with best practice.
LO3 Assess the complex and changing international trade patterns and foreign direct investment flows and how the rise of MNC's is changing the global economy.
LO4 Critically evaluate the opportunities and threats faced by global organisations and assess their impact in a changing global economy.
LO5 Critique the role of management tasks, skills and responsibilities, in delivering the building blocks to meet the challenges of the global economy.
LO6 Analyse the role and impact of finance and trade policies on the global economy.
LO7 Critically assess the importance of key functions and roles and their effect on an organisations global strategy.
LO8 Develop a coherent, rational strategy to encapsulate all the key requirements of an organisation's global strategy.

The Environment of International Business
Global culture, ethics, diversity, corporate governance, trade & investment, political and legal systems, governments, regional economic integration, emerging markets, monetary and financial environments.
Strategy and Opportunity Assessment
Strategy and Organisation, Global market opportunity assessment.
Entering and Operating in International Markets
Exporting, countertrade, FDI, collaborations, mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, licensing, franchising other contractual and collaborative strategies.
Functional Area Excellence

Assessment Description
Students will evaluate strategic concepts within the global environment and will contextualise the factors that facilitate and hinder the strategic process.

Assessment Description
The students in groups will critically analyse and research an organisation's (live case scenario) international business strategy and select strategies to meet the changing needs of the organisation and deliver a detailed report and presentation on same.
