Module Description: To enable students to implement safe and inclusive Visual Arts and Music practices in Social Care contexts. The students will explore, practice and evaluate the impact of socio-cultural values on the implementation of music and visual art interventions in the best interest of service users. The students also learn to work within the S.C.W. Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and to practice within the limits and boundaries of their Profession when engaging service users with creative arts (music & visual arts) interventions.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Explore academic and current Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and Registration Board perspectives and requirements underlying the value and impact of creative arts in Social Care contexts to respond to identified learning, behavioural, situational and social needs of individuals in residential and community environments. (Domains: 2.2; 5.1, 5.16; 1.7, 1.22.)
LO2 Critically analyse the application of Music and Visual Arts in planning, facilitating, evaluating, reflecting and documenting of interventions in social care environments including placement. (Domains: 3.5; 3.8; 5.1; 5.11; 5.16; 4.3; 4.4. 5,8. )
LO3 Evaluate creative practice within the framework of normative music and visual development stages and their associated indicators in the context of assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and referrals in multi-disciplinary social care settings within the legal, ethical and practice boundaries of the profession. (Domains: 1.5; 5.1; 5.8; 5.13.1.1)
LO4 Be able to practice and assess safe effective facilitations of Music and Visual Arts as tools of socio-cultural inclusion, social bridging and change in Social Care contexts that respect and uphold the rights, dignity, consent and autonomy of every service. Assessment Description
Practical Exam assessing the student's competencies in the considered planning, appropriate application and practice of module concepts and learnt proficiencies to a profiled social care cohort in an identified (hypothetical) setting that meets sector standard requirements. Student presents to and gains feedback from peers & Lecturer on their creative intervention's safe and inclusive practice evidencing effective implementation of standards of proficiencies within the boundaries of the S.C.W. profession.
