Module Description: The learner will undertake a relevant work placement of no less than 15 weeks. The
placement programme will familiarise the student with work practices and procedures and
provide him/her with the opportunity to observe the the practical application of theoretical
knowledge gained on his/her programme. The placement is supported by a member of
academic staff in MTU together with a workplace mentor. The aim of the industrial placement
is to introduce the learner to structured employment in a relevant work sector and to develop
in the learner an understanding of the organisation, its procedures and technology.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO3 Demonstrate initiative and leadership skills whilst working alone and in teams.
LO4 Apply knowledge, skills and competencies acquired during the programme of study to the analysis and solution of workplace problems and/or the development of engineering design solutions in the workplace.
LO5 Reflect on and analyse the learning experience resulting from the work placement.
LO6 Create a comprehensive report outlining the technical aspects of work undertaken during the work placement.
