Module Description: This module will explore hybrid working methods within the field of contemporary painting. Students will carry out independent research to develop a conceptual and technical framework that supports their painting practice.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Research and develop concepts and explore methods of communicating them through a variety of painting processes.
LO2 Plan and implement a portfolio of paintings that explores a combination of advanced and experimental painting processes.
LO3 Critically analyse and evaluate work within a broader context of contemporary painting through presentation of research and group critique.
LO4 Stage a group presentation of selected paintings as part of a team.
LO5 Apply responsible use of materials, equipment and workspace, evidencing an understanding of relevant health & safety concerns and environmental sustainability.

Indicative Content
Personal Practice
Students will identify and research relevant concepts and develop working methods and skills that are pertinent to their concerns. Emphasis is placed on exploring multiple approaches of expression, application and technique within painting.
Requirements
This module encourages critical analysis and evaluation of work. Students will engage in group presentations and seminars to critique the progression of work and to situate their concerns in context to the work of contemporary artists.
