Module Description: |
This module will introduce learners to the skills and competencies required to successfully plan, research, and write an academic publication. The learner will engage with and analyse related works and state-of-the-art research in order to situate their own discussion within this context. Module content will include writing styles, publication venues, citation systems, document formatting, software tools for writing, and the different types of academic publications.

Indicative Content |
Planning
In-class content will cover how to structure different forms of academic publications, how to create a writing plan, and the peer-review process.

Secondary Research
Students will engage in secondary research using online/ library resources to review, evaluate, and discuss publications and state-of-the-art research.
|
Writing for Academic Publication
Through project work, learners will outline the structure of a research publication based on a provided brief, present research findings, and discuss the relevance and meaning of those findings in the context of existing work.
