Montessori Approach to ICT
Using the Montessori approach develop innovative learning skills to support learning. Use the Montessori method to engage in ICT related problem solving / co-op activities / games and other critical thinking opportunities. Incorporate indoor/outdoor ICT equipment for experiments and projects in STEM- and STEAM-related areas – biology, anatomy, physics, astronomy, geography, chemistry, history, art, botany etc. to increase a child’s understanding of the world.
|
Montessori and Digital Literacy
Montessori’s concept of ‘global citizenship’ is about being part of a growing world community and it develops from birth into adulthood. Part of this ‘global citizenship’ now involves digital connections and ‘know-how’. Digital literacy is one component of being a global citizen - a person who is responsible for how they utilize technology to interact with the world around them. Digital literacy is the knowledge, skills, and behaviours used in a broad range of digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop PCs, all of which are seen as network rather than computing devices.
|
Montessori and Online Safety
Montessori methods and principles - generate awareness and enable children to reflect on their online identity and behaviour; on peer activity and pressure; on issues of cyber-bullying; develop their skill set to address online privacy, safety, and reporting matters. Parental controls/settings.
