This module explores printmaking in visual art as a means of extending the learner's vocabulary. There will be a series of workshops in methods and techniques investigating the creative potential of the print. This module focuses on development of concept and ideas through an understanding of Fine Print.

Combine traditional processes with new media to produce a hybrid print. |

Identify the medium and processes involved in the production of a wide range of prints and apply processes with proficiency and confidence. |

Explain print in a fine art context in relation to conventional practices in contemporary art practice. |

Develop research, and critical process and language through print based practices. |

Indicative Content |
Research
Introduction to print as a means for extending visual vocabulary. This will include working together in groups, developing a critical underpinning of individual student practice using personal source material which is developed within printmaking workshops.

Using the Multiple.
Introduction to the practice of producing multiples, registration, preparing the press, inking, wiping, pulling proofs, reworking plates, finishing prints and editioning.

Group Critique
Critical and contextual group discussions centred on a range of traditional and non-traditional visual art print practices.
