This module deals with databases and their central role in information management. It also introduces students to the basics of business intelligence, business analytics, and data protection and ethics.

Database
Creating and Managing Relational Databases;
Forms: tab order, moving and sizing controls, adding and deleting fields, subforms, importing spreadsheets, multi-table forms.
Advanced queries: using the expression builder to perform calculations, summarising groups of records, display top or bottom values, parameter queries, crosstab queries; Reports: grouping, sorting, summarising, inserting formulas manually; charts; Create labels, merge data.

Database Processing
Components of a Database System: Database Application, Database Management System (DBMS) and Database; Features of a Database System: Tables, Queries, Forms, Reports; Enterprise DBMS vs. Personal DBMS; Data Models: Entities, Relationships, Cardinality; Normalisation;
Data Quality.

Business Intelligence
Reporting: Basic Reporting, RFM Analysis, OLAP; Data Mining: Unsupervised, Supervised, Market Bucket Analysis; Decision Tree;
Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
Business Analytics;

Data Protection Commissioner, Personal Data, Sensitive Data, Data Protection Rights and Rules, Data Protection Acts, Case Studies, e.g. Social Media;
