Module Description: This module introduces students to the cultural realities of doing business internationally. The module aims to develop the ability to understand and be sensitive to the cultural diversity that affects firms operating internationally.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Introduction to Culture
Nature and characteristics of culture, subcultures, socialisation, stereotypes, ethnocentrism, culture shock.
Elements of Culture
Language, religion, values, beliefs, norms, customs, education, aesthetics, gender, family, worldview.
Culture Models
Hofstede and Hall's dimensions of national culture.
Influence of National Culture on Business Practices
Effect of culture on management functions, conflict resolution, and ethical practice.
Case Studies
Students will review practical case studies of concepts discussed in class.
