Module Description: This module centres on a portfolio of new musical work in a variety of genres. The candidate will develop a deep learning approach to articulating their creative impulses and vision.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Planning
Outline of creative concepts and scheme of work
Genre
This portfolio should contain a variety of genres, for a range of forces, both instrumental and vocal and should have at least one work for solo with supporting ensemble
Reduction
Solo feature or vocal work should have a functional keyboard reduction or leadsheet for rehearsal purposes
Virtuosity
At least one work should display an advanced requirement for realisable virtuosity, exploiting extended techniques where artistically appropriate
Improvisation
Improvisation, either solo or collective, should be a feature in at least one work. Clearly articulated frameworks and instructions should be notated and appropriate supporting textures created.
Documentation
A written journal, with AV support, should document the process and realisation. The final output should be a high quality recording/video of a performance/workshop in addition to professional scores.
