Module Description: This modules provides an introduction to the development and design resolution of small scale non-domestic interior architecture spaces.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Non-domestic Small Scale Interiors
Introduction to the fundamental basics of the design process for non-domestic small scale projects. Emphasis is on research & analysis of exemplary architecture, and focused design development & exploration; in the form of freehand drawing & model making to arrive at creative interior architecture proposals that consider clients and end-users equally, and comply with the relevant regulations & standards.
Sketch Model Design
Sketch/study modelling for non-domestic small scale projects. Exploration of materials & finishes to communicate design proposals, and make informed design decisions in 3-dimensions. Emphasis is on using the model as a basis for form, scale & lighting studies.
Concept and Detailed Sketch Design
Concept and detailed sketch design proposals for non-domestic projects. Brief analysis, and client, end-user & building type profiling. Emphasis is on building/design precedents and the exploration of form, space, material, finishes, colour palettes and detailing in order to illustrate viable design intent.
Final Design & Presentation
Final design proposals & presentation for non-domestic small scale projects. Emphasis is on 'fit for purpose' innovative & sustainable design solutions that meet a specific design brief and programme. And design/graphic representation & oral presentation skills to communicate design strategies, both verbally and non-verbally for critique and evaluation.
