Module Description: This module facilitates students to design, conduct, collate and present an independent piece of research relating to the field of Early Childhood Education & Care (ECEC) with supervisory support and learning resources on the VLE.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Apply relevant and appropriate research theory to the field of ECEC.
LO2 Employ a code of research ethics specific to the ECEC field throughout their research process.
LO3 Distinguish between quantitative and qualitative data analysis processes and their respective role in interrogating data collected.
LO4 Apply guidance and feedback from supervisory support to work independently.
LO5 Compile a dissertation relating to the field of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC).
LO6 Orally present research findings and recommendations using visual aids.

Supervision
Small group supervisory sessions at which dissertation planning is discussed with peers and supervisor: research breakdown; data collection methods, progress reports and feedback.
Active Learning - making use of resources on VLE
Dissertation presentation; academic protocols; presentation skills guidance, sample dissertations, podcasts, live sessions on managing the dissertation and preparing for the presentation
