Module Description: This module equips students with the skills and knowledge required to understand how IT practitioners and executive management design, innovate, plan and govern the implementation of IT strategies so as to deliver strategic value and competitive advantage to an organisation.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Discuss the role that IT leadership has in the strategic IT planning process in an organisation.
LO2 Analyse the design, implementation and management of an IT Strategic plan as it delivers IT Transformation for an organisation.
LO3 Describe the contribution that Digital Strategy & Transformation plays in the IT Transformation process.
LO4 Evaluate how emerging technologies can significantly contribute in the design and implemention an organisation's IT strategic plan.
LO5 Analyse how ithe use of information technology can create strategic value and benefit realisation for an organisation
LO6 Design an IT Transformation Roadmap for an organisation.

Indicative Content
IT Strategic Planning and Leadership
The role of the organisation's IT leadership (CIO, CDO and CEO) in the strategic IT planning process, the use of external and internal analysis by IT strategists in designing an IT strategy so as to deliver IT Transformation to the organisation.
Digital Strategy enabling Digital Transformation
The use of digital tools (mobility, social media), digital maturity models and frameworks when enabling digital transformation, critical to an organisations IT Transformation.
Emerging Technologies enabling IT Transformation
The use of current and emerging technologies (IoT, data analysis tools, cyber security, blockchain, artifical intelligence and cloud computing) that can be incorporated by an organisation in their IT Strategy and the role they can play when implementing IT Transformation.
Achieving Strategic Value from IT Investment.
The use of IT strategic models and frameworks (Benefits Realisation models) in delivering IT strategic value and benefit realisation to an organisation.
IT Strategy Implementation & Governance
The role of IT governance in measuring the value of IT projects and prioritising their implementation using frameworks such as 3P's (people, processes, program portfolio) CobiT, and other commonly-used approaches, will enable IT Transformation in an organisation.
IT Tranformation Road Map
IT Transformation road map design components, including the key elements, criitical success factors and technological elements including their role in the design process.
