Module Description: This module completes the development of core musicianship skills, integrating perceptual, analytical and practical applications.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Identify and reproduce features of a passage from the 16th and 20th century repertory
LO2 Sight-read and perform vocal repertory in 3 to 5 parts
LO3 Identify complex harmonic entities in selected extracts from the literature
LO4 Analyse complex harmonic functions and describe their relationships
LO5 Lead a small orchestra or choir confidently after thorough preparation of a score
LO6 Conduct with clarity of gesture and range of expression

Indicative Content
Aural skills
Continuation of development of sight-reading; aural analysis; score-reading; aural perception with particular emphasis on extracts from 20th century repertory; aural perception of 3- and 4-part works of the 16th and 20th centuries; aural perception of canonic and fugal techniques.
Advanced harmony and analysis
Analysis of complex harmonic entities and their functional relationships.
Conducting technique
Silent practice of set repertory; conducting and rehearsing the student group; all with video recording.
