Module Description: This module examines the concepts and principles of Human Resource Management in dealing with the complexities of the 21st century workforce.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Analyse the training and development strategies used by companies to upskill and retain a skilled workforce and to manage their performance.
LO3 Compare and contrast the existing and emerging employment legislation and its impact on the HR function.
LO4 Recommend criteria for managing employee physical health and mental wellbeing through a comprehensive suite of policies, strategies and practices.
LO5 Discuss contemporary approaches to human resource management and the contribution of HR to effectively engaging your people.

Recruitment and Selection
Recruitment techniques, selection techniques, the use of technology, outsourcing, influence of employer branding.
Training, Development and Performance
Training needs analysis, planning, implementing and reviewing training and development practices, the use of technology and the assessment of employee performance. This module meets SDG 4 Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Employment Law
The effect of employment legislation on HR practices, existing legislation and new areas of relevance to HR.
Health, Safety and Employee Wellbeing
Physical safety, mental wellbeing, the legal context, policies, practices and current initiatives for employee protection and engagement, use of the psychological contract and it's impact on employee engagement and wellbeing. This module meets SDG 3 Good Health and Wellbeing: Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages.
Current and Emerging Trends in HR Practices
Current and emerging trends that have the potential to impact the management of people in the organisation. This module meets SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
