Module Description: Projects are at the heart of all organisations. When operating internationally organisations need to successfully manage diverse virtual teams and projects. This module aims to give students the knowledge and understanding of successful projects and teams in an international context.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO4 Integrate the project management process groups and project management knowledge areas with an applicable business project.

Effective International Teamwork
Building effective international teams; different types of teams; roles, responsibilities and power; team meetings; supporting conflict resolution in teams.
International Team Building Strategies
Teambuilding strategies and interventions. Theory of groups and teams. Team roles, development and leadership. Virtual teams.
Managing International Projects
Managing, communicating and controlling international projects. The wider context of stakeholder analysis, teamwork and leadership issues.
Project Management Body of Knowledge
PMBOK knowledge areas: Integration, Scope, Cost, Time, Human Resources, Procurement, Risk, Quality, Communications and Stakeholder Management. Project Lifecycle / Process Groups: Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing.
Project Schedule Development using PM Software
Develop a detailed project schedule taking account of task, resources, costs and other schedule requirements using an appropriate software package.

Assessment Description
In-class assessment using appropriate computer software to plan a project. For example: given a WBS and substantial detail for a new project, use scheduling software to plan the estimated costs and schedule involved.

Assessment Description
Working in project teams each team will create and present key project documents. This assessment will also include a reflective journal addressing the challenges and successes of the team throughout the project. Groups will be provided with formative feedback across the semester with draft documents submitted for review in Week 6.

This module is reassessed solely on the basis of re-submitted coursework. There is no repeat written examination.
