This module aims to equip learners with the insights and skills to work effectively as leaders of work-based teams through developing their personal management and leadership styles. The module will provide learners with opportunities to identify best-practice approaches for managing change and developing their skills for communicating with cross-functional teams.

Management Practice
History of management thought, role of the manager, managerial styles, assessing management skills, functions of management.

Project Management
Creating and maintaining team engagement and accountability. Identifying and managing project stakeholders, developing project scope, identifying required skills and resources, agreeing key high-level milestones, identifying and managing project risks, analysis of critical path elements, and continuous improvement.

Managing Change
The role of the change leader, identifying resistance to change, how to minimise and overcome resistance to change, planning for change, managing change, managing in times of increased competition, increased complexity and unanticipated change.

Communication and Impact
Challenges of verbal and written communication, tools and techniques to communicate effectively with an audience, best-practice principles to ensure effective communication with cross-functional teams, influencing others/styles and techniques.

Problem Solving and Decision making
The human decision making process, processes and controls, variables in decision-making, making informed judgements, the human decision-making process.
Evaluation and critique of a Structured Problem Solving process.
