Translate a range of texts in the areas of business, journalism, current affairs and literature from Spanish into English and English into Spanish. |

Critically analyse and evaluate a variety of cultural and media materials from the Twentieth and the Twenty First Century (film and media studies, visual art and short stories). |
LO3 |
Research and examine specific aspects of contemporary business culture in Latin America in an effective and appropriate manner in an academic essay or project format. |
LO4 |
Consolidate knowledge of advanced grammatical structures necessary to consistently produce a B2 - B2+ level of language structures. |
LO5 |
Communicate orally to a high level of competency (B2 - B2+ levels), in topics of international business/trade and/or culture and the arts. |
Indicative Content |
1. Translation/Written Skills:
Applied advanced practice (building on Semester 1 skillset) in the translation of varied texts (journalistic, current affairs, business and literary) from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

3. Cultural Studies:
Critically analyse and discuss key aspects of culture and media (film studies, short stories and visual art) in Latin America in the Twentieth and Twenty First Century. Evaluation of these in their socio-historical/geo-political contexts. Identification and application of suitable research methodologies to communicate the above in academic essay format.

4. Business Studies:
Examine and critically evaluate topics of contemporary business culture in Latin America.

5. Grammar:
Substantial reinforcement and practical application of complex grammatical elements relevant to a B2/B2+ level of the target language (direct and indirect report speech).

6. Oral/Presentation Skills:
Enable students to develop communication skills of a sufficient standard to: deliver effective oral presentations in a professional manner; participate in group/class discussions as required; converse individually or in a paired context to enhance fluency.
