Module Description: This module consists of one project divided into two parts it focuses on the design and space planning of offices.The development and resolution of interior architecture projects for commercial office interior space.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Develop a brief and a relevant comprehensive design vocabulary in response to the specific needs of a client in the commercial workplace environment
LO2 Develop a coherent interior architectural design through all work stages of the design process from strategy/concept through to evocation of quality space.
LO3 Illustrate a competency of technical,environmental,material and constructional strategies for a commercial office interior space.
LO4 Identify the concerns regarding sustainability and the technological concerns pertinent to the development of a commercial design scheme.
LO5 Identify the social and economic factors pertinent to the development of a commercial design scheme.

Commercial:Financial Office Project (Accountants) PART I
Discussion and development of brief,time management,analysis of company type/structure,profiling. Identification of functional and aesthetic needs,introduction to building type and visit to site,photographic and spot surveys.Research and case study/precedent analysis.Presentation of two optional concepts,a body of research and design development to date.Duration:3 weeks
Commercial: Financial Office Project (Accountants) PART II
This represents the students largest and most complex project to date which requires the design, spatial manipulation and circulation management of a large two storey space.From part I the student progresses the design development of their chosen concept through the use of sketch and sketch/study modelling,arriving at a resolved design proposal to include furniture and fitting specification,illustrating a comprehensive graphic,visual and verbal presentation skill set to an appropriate standard. Duration: 6 weeks
