Module Description: This module will allow the student to gain an insight into the contractual controls and procurement systems required for the management of complex construction projects.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Define the purpose and use of a specification and other contract documentation for both new and refurbishment work.
LO2 Discuss the cost implications of design decisions and explain cost planning and cost control.
LO3 Explain the tendering process including the choice of procurement route.
LO4 Critique civil law including the Law of Contract and the Law of Tort and legislation.
LO5 Discuss and compare the administration and management of a construction project using one of the variety of standard Construction contract available, including resolving disputes

Choosing the most appropriate procurement route. Tendering Process, Documentation. Timing and procedure. Balancing time, cost and quality Introduction to time planning Resource Allocation Scheduling/Critical path analysis

Factors that affect economic design. Functional requirements. Wall to floor ratios. Circulation space.
