| Indicative Content |
|
Types of firm
Types of contracting firms operating within the construction industry, e.g. sole traders, small companies and the major construction firms. Describing both the sectors and specialist disciplines inherent.

Participants in the industry
Clients, design consultants and contractors and their requirements.
|
|
Roles and responsibilities
Construction manager, architect, quantity surveyor, main contractors, resident engineers, estate managers.
|
|
Sectors in the industry
Private and public. Planning, development, design, planning, construction, health and safety, estates and facilities management.
|
|
Principles of Measurement
Use of dimension sheets, use of measurement techniques and principles in taking off quantities.
|
|
Measurement of basic structures
Use of methods of measurements and ARM4 in generating descriptions, measurement of basic construction works.
