This module provides the student with a comprehensive understanding of the the administration, organisation and management activities carried out by the staff in the parts, warranty and collision repair departments in the motor industry.

Discuss the administration and organisation of the parts department in a motor dealership. |

Detail accident procedures in relation to crash repairs and prepare estimates for these according to approved repairer scheme regulations. |

Explain and identify good and poor parts dept premises layout and discuss the relevant health and safety aspects. |
LO4 |
Describe customer retention methods (CRM) that may be used by parts management in the automotive industry. |

Explain the main duties of the parts dept staff in the automotive business. |

Key performance indicators,premises layout and location of site.Parts and stores area layout, obsolete stock, storage of stock, stock rotation. Parts identification, binning procedure, special orders.Duties of parts department staff .Business to business sales process ,customer care (CRM).SWOT analysis.Use of dealer management system to produce relevant documents.

Accident repair and safety procedures
Primary and secondary damage repair versus replacement, repair estimates, different types of estimates, dealing with insurance companies when going through the approved repairer scheme,types of insurance cover. Role of the automobile engineer assessor in relation to crash repairs.Different types of automobile engineer assessors

Warranty administration
Duties and responsibilities of a warranty administrator, warranty procedures, prior work approval systems, extended warranty.

Staff bonus / training
Training (Product knowledge)by manafacturers.Implementation of customer satisfaction standards, equipment required, repairs costing, different incentive schemes and their operation.Use of key performance indicators by parts management.
