On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Business and everyday culture
An overview of the French job market, economy, major industries and companies and the practicalities of day to day life and employment in France (e.g. bills, opening bank accounts, the rental market for accommodation, official forms, insurance, medical cover).
Living in France
Aspects of everyday life in France: cultural norms and behavioral expectations.
Grammar
Advanced grammar including aspects of formal written and spoken French. Use of the plu-perfect tense and the subjunctive mood, relative pronouns, prepositional verbs, modal verb structures, etc.
Reading, writing skills
Reading and writing texts at an advanced level including job advertisements and job applications, formal emails. Business publications, official forms required to live and/or work in France.
Speaking and listening skills
Learning to participate in and initiate conversations at an advanced level in personal and professional contexts necessary to live and/or work in France.

Assessment Description
Portfolio. Theme: Living and working in France. Based on research and ongoing submissions of materials leading up to a final submission of completed portfolio at the end of the semester. Students must conduct research into various practical aspects of moving to and becoming established in a location where they could study or work in France. The precise topics to be investigated will be specified in the assignment brief for students. All content should be presented in written form in French and include relevant visual aids such as maps, diagrams, tables, etc.

Written in-class tests to assess reading and writing skills, knowledge of relevant grammar topics, etc.
