Module Description: |
This module introduces the student to the geography of Spain. It also centres on Spanish pronunciation, alphabet and numbers. It covers basic grammatical structures used to talk about oneself, likes and dislikes, one's family, best friend (physical description and personality) and one's town/city.

Introduction to Cultural Studies
The students will be introduced to the geography of Spain and its autonomous communities

Listening skills
Basic classroom interaction, understanding questions and simple phrases used in everyday situations. Audio materials include CDs, videos, films, podcasts, mp3 and many other audio internet files on the topics of oneself, likes/dislikes, family, best friend and town/city

Speaking skills
The sound of Spanish, pronunciation of the Spanish alphabet and numbers; basic classroom interaction, answering questions on the topics of oneself, likes/dislikes, family, best friend and town/city

Writing skills
Writing basic Spanish texts on the topics of oneself, likes/dislikes, family, best friend and town/city
|
Reading skills
Reading short, basic paragraphs in Spanish on the topics of oneself, likes/dislikes, family, best friend and town/city

Grammar
Areas of grammar covered for the above skills include: basic verbs like SER, TENER, GUSTAR, HAY, ESTAR; Personal Pronouns; possessive pronouns; definite and indefinite articles; gender and number
