Module Description: This module will introduce students to qualitative, quantitative and mixed method research design. The module is also designed to familiarise students with different data collection methods, and develop their ability to write a research proposal.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO3 Create research tools such as questionnaires and interview guides

Writing
The Literature Review. The Research Question and Research Design. Referencing. Academic writing and writing a research proposal.
Approaches to Primary Research
Qualitative, Quantitative, Mixed Methods Approaches. Philosophies of Research. Construct and Content Validity, Reliability, Independent and Dependent Variables.
Data Collection
Interviews, Focus Groups, Questionnaires. Sampling.
Data Analysis
Introduction to simple electronic data collection (Lab). Analysis and coding.
