Module Description: This module is designed to give the student the opportunity to combine and extend their knowledge(s) and experience gained through previous placement experience and classes. The student will undertake a supervised early childhood education and care (ECEC) block placement for the semester and will have the opportunity to integrate theory and further develop their practice with particular emphasis on management in ECEC settings. Students will attend college for one week at the beginning of the semester to explore management practices appropriate to ECEC settings.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Work Practice
Develop advanced practice, values, knowledge(s), attitudes and dispositions required for working as an early childhood practitioner; deepen awareness of the extent and nature of documentation required to comply with relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines and national practice frameworks; aim to participate in as many aspects of an ECEC setting as possible, with particular emphasis on management practice and systems; aim to contribute to the quality of service provision in an inclusive early learning environment; application of reflective practice in an ECEC setting.
Personal and Professional Development
Working collaboratively to construct appropriate personal and professional goals; undertaking increased individual responsibility for aspects of ECEC practice; advance the skill of reflective practice and self-evaluation through keeping a daily placement diary- recording events, feelings and reactions; take responsibility for own actions in a supervised context.
Application of Learning
Application of theoretical and practical learning acquired at MTU and on previous placement experience.
Management Practice and Systems
Develop increased awareness of the management practice and systems in an early childhood education and care setting;
