Module Description: Beginning with an outline brief, the learner develops the knowledge, know-how, skills and competences required to successfully research, develop, scope and present an implementation plan for the project. The learner is then required to develop, implement and critically assess a detailed methodology to address the problem within a prescribed timeframe. The learner is expected to work autonomously under the direction of a project supervisor and to communicate the process and outcomes of their work in a style and manner appropriate for professional practioners in the discipline.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Undertake a comprehensive review of relevant and appropriate literature to determine current knowledge in the project area.
LO2 Select the most likely methodology to address the identified project area by exercising professional judgement in evaluating potential course of actions against appropriate design, safety, commercial and ethical criteria.
LO3 Develop and present a project plan to implement the proposed methodology
LO4 Systematically review and adapt the design during project implementation in response to practical, real-world constraints.
LO5 Critically assess the outcome against, inter alia, appropriate design, safety commercial and ethical criteria
LO6 Demonstrate the appropriate oral communication skills in formal presentation and technical interview settings as required of the professional practioner.
LO7 Demonstrate the appropriate written communication skills required of the professional practitioner.
