Module Description: This module will enable the students to learn the skills of TV and online video production, particularly documentary making and how to package short documentaries for new media. Students will move from news journalism to current affairs and documentary production. They will discover the different roles in documentary production, including researcher, producer and director. They will learn how to conceive and develop effective media documentaries.

Indicative Content
Narrative Video
Students will develop a keen awareness of narrative structure in a visual environment. Through research and storyboarding they learn how to effectively turn their recorded video into engaging content.
Mobile Journalism
Explore the uses of this recent form of journalism. Utilise consumer hardware including smartphones and tablets in conjunction with apps to create professional quality video content for multiple platforms.
Practical Skills
Students will be taught the basics in how to film and record sound and pictures. They will be also be shown how to edit and create short but powerful media documentaries.
Media Content Presentation
How to produce live and pre-recorded video content. How to produce, report and direct for documentary as well as construct and edit video presentations. How to think visually and creatively using audio visual skills to make the most of new media. How to deconstruct and analyse media audiences in order to target content effectively.
