This module introduces students to the global business environment in which companies operate today. Students will learn about the effects of globalisation on international businesses and how political, legal, economic and cultural issues affect their operations.

Globalisation
Globalisation of markets. Globalisation of production. Drivers of globalisation. Anti-globalisation arguments.

Political Environment
Political Risk and risk reduction strategies. Supranational organisations such as the World Trade Organisation and the EU. International Agreement such as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

Legal Environment
Sources of legislation governing international trade. Protection of intellectual property. Counterfeiting.
|
Cultural Environment
Religion, language, social structure and education as cultural elements that influence international businesses.
|
International Business Ethics
Ethics in a cross-cultural context. Managing ethical behaviour in international companies.
