Module Description: |
This module, in preparing students for various career paths, will concentrate on the professional practices associated with creative Graphic Design and Media industries. Students will undertake an array of activities, which may include Industry briefs, mentoring, workshops, reports/interviews & talks/lectures. The module will begin to prepare students for employment, concentrating on a range of transferable skills in relation to working in a team, the professional design process, formal presentation skills. This module includes relevant business practices and related practices applicable to the given projects/activities such as an introduction to expectations of working in a design studio, working with a client, working as a freelancer and entrepreneurship.

Indicative Content |
Career Preparation
Workshops, talks/lectures and other relevant activities on a range of professional skills applicable to the preparation for various career paths.

Group Mentoring Project
Students will undertake a live brief, where possible, mentored by Industry Professionals. Students will be encouraged to plan, discuss and share their ideas with team members and document their process. A series of tutorial sessions will be used to assess the progression of each team and to encourage investigation, analysis and the creative progression of each group project to professional standards.

Professional Pitch Presentation
A practice & formal pitch presentation involving industry practitioners will complete the module, where each group will be required to professionally present final design solutions.
