Module Description: Aims:
Review of customs law on international trade by providing a formal grounding in the aspects of European Union customs law and regulations that govern international trade. Critically analyse situations of potential difficulty and suggest appropriate legal remedies.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Describe the harmonisation process of EU Law and the impacts of Brexit in the area of Customs Law and International Trade.
LO3 Analyse the main provisions of customs law, regulations and international conventions that impact the movement of goods in the supply chain.
LO4 Review the security aspects involved with global transportation.

The Open International Market. The Four Freedoms in the treaty. The Common Policies. Customs Law Common Customs Code Regl.EC.No 2913/92 and 2454/93. Common Customs Tariff. Harmonised System and TARIC imports into the community. Free Circulation. Classification rules. Valuation of goods for customs. Origin rules.
Trade Documents and Processes
Trade facilitation and effective customs control. Single Administration Document (SAD). Functions and ongoing challenges relating to Brexit. Paperless Systems. Automatic Entry Processing (AEP). Direct Trader Input (DTI). Deferred Payment (TAN) Simplified Declaration Procedure. VAT on imports and exports. Duty Free licences. Intrastats. Tariff Quotas, Import Preferences. General System of Preferences, (GSP). Duty Relief (IP & OP) Temporary Importation Relief. End User Relief. Processing under Customs Control. Customs warehousing. Duty Free Zones.
