Module Description: A follow-on module where the student expands both his/her range of skills and theoretical knowledge in the field of theatre technology and begins to apply these creatively.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Operate sound and lighting desks to a fixed set of cues
LO3 Draw-up a lighting and/or sound plot for a theatrical production
LO4 Safely act as a crew member in a theatre rigging team

Theatre Lighting
Coloured Light - theory and application; gels; barn doors; light intensity and focus; programmed transitions, scene changes; introduction to moving lights and effects
Theatre Sound
Microphone type and placement; equalisation; compression and digital effects; speaker arrays - Galileo control unit; sound desk - Yamaha DM2000; feedback control
Sound & Lighting Design
Creative design principles; coherent design integration; color schemes; ambience; text analysis
Rigging and De-rigging
Operating as part of a team to safely and quickly set up and break down lighting and sound equipment; stock management and storage
