Module Description: This module will cover the technique of composing two-part inventions for keyboard, invertible counterpoint in three parts (triple counterpoint) and an introduction to fugal composition.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Employ Eighteenth-Century instrumental technique; canon at the octave, the fourth, the fifth and /or other intervals, invertible Counterpoint at the octave, the Tenth and the Twelfth) in the composition of two-part inventions for keyboard
LO2 Manipulate the technique of triple invertible counterpoint at the octave
LO3 Compose a fugal exposition or a complete short fugue in three parts for keyboard, instrumental ensemble or voices

Counterpoint Project 4
This module will cover the structural techniques required to compose a complete two-part invention for keyboard employing the resources of canon and/or invertible counterpoint; the technnique of triple invertible counterpoint; an introduction to fugal composition- the fugue subject, the answer, the countersubject(s), the fugal exposition, the episode(s); approaches to writing a complete fugue
