Module Description: This module will present an introduction to the techniques of canon and invertible counterpoint, and an introduction to the techniques of writing counterpoint in the harmonic instrumental style of the 18th century
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Manipulate the techniques of composing canons, finite and infinite at various intervals in two parts
LO2 Manipulate the basic techniques of double invertible counterpoint at the octave, the tenth and the twelfth
LO3 Demonstrate the compositional use of these techniques in constructing complete short pieces

Counterpoint 3
This module will cover the composition of two-part canons at various intervals; the technique of invertible counterpoint in two parts (double counterpoint) at the octave, and the tenth and the twelfth; the construction of short simple pieces utilising these techniques; the technique of 18th century harmonic instrumental counterpoint
